As the county seat of world-famous Humboldt County, California, the City of Eureka is the heart of the U.S. Redwood Coast. Eureka is the market and cultural center of a beautiful region filled with iconic redwoods – the world’s tallest trees – and stunningly beautiful, rugged remote ocean landscapes.
Culturally protected by the ‘Redwood Curtain,’ the city is most famous for its unique Victorian architecture, creative artistic culture, one-of-a-kind shops, restaurants, and artisanal businesses.
Take in a morning kayak on Humboldt Bay, lunch at a locally sourced café, view giant redwood trees from a bird’s vantage point at the Redwood Skywalk and see aerial silk artists at play, there’s something for everyone in and around Eureka.
One block from the waterfront, California Welcome Center, Eureka is minutes from dozens of restaurants, and specialty food shops. Knowledgeable staff provide information, directions, and history, helping visitors and locals find the right store, restaurant, museum, or other attraction. In addition to answering all your local travel questions, the center features a Humboldt in the Movies exhibit, bike rentals, and a souvenir penny machine where you can press images of local landmarks.
Please contact the Welcome Center for specific hours of operation.
